Homage Project | Psyop's drift
15/06/08 16:18
as part of a video installation class i created a video clip as a homage to psyop’s excellent commercial „drift“. As part of the project i looked closer at psyop’s work and got to say that this company definitely brings a lot to the table when it comes to creativity and video & animation. If you haven’t heard from them yet you should definitely check out: www.psyop.tv.

Digital Graffiti | Outdoor Projection
15/06/08 15:55
In order to explore possibilities of outdoor projection and video animation the project „digital graffiti“ was created and projected in the city of portland. unfortunately the location offered quite some difficulties in order to project the image. Ambient light forced me to find a different location but in the end it worked out and i got to say that projecting outside is quite fun.

Sweet Nothing | Layouts
12/06/08 17:10
Recently i was working on a project calles „sweet nothing“ a video installation that deals with the theme of representing nothing by exploring messages in advertisements. In addition the project takes a look at the disconnect between the image and the message in commercials surrounding us in our everyday lives. the project explores my perception of „nothing“ in relationship to a commercialized world that forwards itself through the commodification of meaning. Images from the installation will follow soon.

Inspired by the visit of designer Ellen Lupton, parts of the PNCA library were turned into a reading nook – a place where research and poetry come together. The collaborative project included: Rachel Mendez [Head librarian], Kim Stafford [Creative-Writer-in-Residence], Bill Fritts [Owner of Intelligent Design], John Calvelli [ Associate Professor, Communication design] and a group of BFA students.

MoMa
10/06/08 16:39
obviously when you are in New York you can not really come around visiting the moma. and so i did. usually not being the biggest fan of being in a museum, i truely was amazed about all the great work displayed. Furthermore i was fascinated about the architecture of the building itself. It was very welcoming and even there being a tremendous amount of vistors it felt very spacy. The highlight was definitely the design exhibition „design and the elastic mind“. Even though running into work you probably have seen before, like pieces of the graffiti research lab, there were interesting design concepts to see.

New York City
10/06/08 13:19
In March 2008 I had the great oppurtunity to go on a one week field trip to New York with the MFA-students from PNCA. We stayed at the Leo House in Chelsea for fairly inexpensive and had a great week, full of gallery hopping, visting artist studios, seeing of the top notch printing facilities and talking to the well-known designer Barry Deck. Besides all the artsy things to do I had the chance to visit my friend Friedrich, who basically worked a couple of blocks from the Leo House. It was nice seeing him and his work at Eyebeam. Also I saw my friend Nick who was currently working on a documentary, which is why the visit was short, but it was definitely good times. All in all I felt very at ease being in New York and I believe it won’t be the last time.
